Meal subsidy for higher education students

Kela (The Social Insurance Institution of Finland) supports academic students’ lunches with 1,77 euros per meal. In order to get a student priced meal you must show a valid student card or another certificate approved by Kela at the cashier.

By presenting a valid student ID or a meal subsidy card issued by Kela, you can get a student discount in subsidized student restaurants. Kela pays the difference between the full price and the discount price to the operator of the restaurant. The meal subsidy programme is for higher education students, for vocational education students eligible for financial aid, and for students attending specialization programmes. If you do not have student ID, contact your school to obtain a meal subsidy card.

Recharce services into student chip card

(available only for UTA and TUT students and personnel in Tampere)

Recharge Juvenes Student Restaurant services into electronic student chip card and personnel chip card and get more benefits! The minimum recharge is a set of 5 units for lunches and a set of ten units for coffees. The maximum recharge is 20 units/product at once.

Post graduating students can use the student card until the end of semester 30.9. Unused charges are not refunded. You need to be a member of Tamy/TTYY student union to get the post-graduate student discount (valid term / academic year sticker).

These price group symbols are shown on the menus by every basic lunch item:

  = COOL

  = FAIR

  = FAIR GREEN (Vegetarian)

  = FAIR LITE (Vegetarian soap or lunch salad)

Each price group include WHOLE PACKAGE or ONLY MAIN COURSE.

*) Includes side salad, bread portion, margarine or butter, and beverages (1 glass of milk/sour milk + 1 glass of juice, home made beer or water)

**) Includes sidesalad and water only, no bread. The main course only recharges are available for personnel only.

***) Includes sidesalad, bread portion, margarine or butter and 4 dl soft drink, which can be change into 2 dl of lunch beverage, such as milk.

Extra portion of lunch costs 1,50 e for all customers (0,90 e in Combomeal). The extra portion includes double portion of food articles or two different main courses on the same plate.
